Footprint Mileage Chart and Healthy Snack Chart There are two overall group goals of the Happy Feet, Healthy Food Kids' Club. FOOTPRINT CHARTS The first goal is mileage. Set an overall goal for your group. Factor in the number of children you have and the number of weeks your club will meet. We set our goal for 500 miles and met it easily. It's fun for children to design tracking charts to record the group mileage. - Use file folders. -Glue blank hundred's charts to the folders. -Have children decorate folders with footprints. -Keep a similar chart on a bulletin board. -Children should keep track of group mileage by filling in squares, using the structure of "tens" and "ones". HEALTHY SNACK CHARTS The next goal is that of healthy eating. Set a healthy snack goal for your group. Keep a bulletin board with a blank chart for healthy snacks. Children should also have matching healthy snack charts to track group progress.
Be specific as to what constitutes a healthy snack. At our pilot club we used the text Happy Feet, Healthy Food as the standard. If the food (or a variety of the food) was found in the book, it was considered a healthy snack. Click here for a printable snack chart to use in your program.
